So I did the 7 day wonder cleanse.

And thank God I did. Because I just met this gorgeous chick from Venezuela, and I wouldn't even have bothered talking to her before this cleanse. You see, I have terrible dry skin. It flakes off all over everything, and it itches like a mofo. And looks terrible, so much so that I try to maintian a 2 meter distance between me and anyone I'm talking to. At that distance, all you can see are the crappy circles under my eyes. This is all from bad diet! I exercise often, participate in cross-country running, martial arts, Japanese archery, and a YMCA workout regimen. But the bad diet was making all of that useless.

But then I found hps-online. I found out what havoc my diet was wreaking inside my body. But I found it so hard to start following the suggestions on the website. No more combining meat and potatoes? No more cereal or PBJ Sandwiches? NO MORE CHEESECAKE? I couldn't just stop, drop, and roll into a whole new lifestyle. I had to start with a clean slate, in order to have the motivation required to make the changes necessary to achieve the health goals that I want. Namely, to glow like an angel. Skin moist and soft. No more Unpetroluem jelly, no more moisturizing creams. No more scraping dead skin off every morning in the shower. No more flakes, no more itching, no more avoiding intimate closeness and touch. That's what I desired.

I would say, that from where I was to where I want to be, the first cleanse put me about 25% of the way there. Which is interesting, because Joshua said it will take about 4 cleanses to totally get a new, clean slate. The numbers fit perfectly. I still have to use some moisterizers, but after I use them, my skin is perfect. Before the cleanse, it only took about an hour for the moisturizer to be rendered totally useless and to once again look like the mummy returns. But now a single coat of moisterizer lasts all day. I have no doubt that with a couple more cleanses, I will have perfect skin without any moisterizers at all. Even right after a hot shower! (Those with dry skin know that is the worst time - a hot shower used to dry my skin out so bad, that if i didn't put vaseline on I wouldn't even be able to smile without tearing my skin). So the program works!

It's also so much easier to eat healthily. I don't crave any of the crap I used to eat! I still love my mom's banana and mango bread, but she makes it with whole wheat flour, no sugar, and no hydrogenated oils. Just some eggs and olive oil, or expeller pressed safflower oil. I know it's still not great, with the fruit and starch, but you gotta start somewhere. I even do 24 hour fasts once a week, just water, without giving it a second thought! I've learned that food doesn't have to rule your life. It's just there to give you energy and vitality, when eaten properly.

Anyway, thanks so much to Jos-hua and the support group, they made it so much easier to follow through with this thing. I look forward to my next cleanse, which will take place as soon as the semester ends. Anyone out there who has a similar problem to mine, you know just I as I did that there is no other way to stop dry skin. I tried everything; diets, all kinds of topical lotions, different herbs, different therapies. But I knew in my heart that moist skin should come from the inside, not some lotion you rub on the outside. I knew that no matter what lotion I came upon that seemed to work, I would still look terrible till I put it on, which meant I could never see another person in the morning before lotion time without embarrassment. I had to have my skin being moisterized from the inside, naturally, like my body was made to do. And only by cleaning my body out with a cleanse like this, and changing to a lifestyle of healthy eating, could that be accomplished. Want skin like a baby? Make your body as healthy and un-toxified as it was when you were a baby. Clean out all the waste that has been put in since you were a baby. It can be done. And finally, after 3 years of searching, I've found that this was the only thing that has brought me closer to that goal. Follow my testimonials over the course of 2005, and I trust you'll find that I'll have reached my goal by this time next year (which is when I'll have finished 4 cleanses).

Hi Andrew,

Wonderful that you have found hps and that you are on the road to better skin and health. The concepts we put into practice here are a good investment that will pay dividends many times over and with little to no risk. I would say that is a wise move.

Funny, also, how you begin to see beyond the fancy packaging that processed foods come in, and see them for what they are really worth. Not a whole lot. I just heard a radio program where the guest was a dairy farmer, and he said he makes 6 cents on a gallon of milk that might cost the consumer about three dollars. All of the money goes into the packaging, marketing, and markup, and not into nutritional integrity.

You've had fantastic results because you truly believe in it and dedicated to the process. I think the greatest gain we have through this programme is how it has re-educated us on what is healthy and how to be healthy. It's such a drastic change from what we've been taught or accustomed to that it's easy to fall back into the old habits of eating and looking after ourselves. So the next challenge is maintenance and keep going forward. You are heading the right direction and the support group here will keep you company along the way. Look forward to seeing you in L2.

Isn't it awesome that the reason you came to HPS is actually being met? Not just another effort that didn't really produce results. I have experienced the same thing with my physical issues - partial improvement that points us in the direction where we want to be.

Isn't is also amazing how our diet changes have changed our food desires so that food doesn't have to rule our lives? It is so awesome to want to eat food that you know will give you energy and which will not make you feel bad after eating it. Meals become energy sessions, not just taste sensations!!! Fantastic. When you know from experience how correct eating makes you feel vs. wrong food choices, it isn't very hard to walk away from the wrong stuff.

Will be following your cleanse this year as I run down the track beside you doing my cleanses. Let's do it!

Isn't it amazing on how many different levels this HPS cleansing can affect you?

I'm glad you are meeting more self confidence, that's important. Forge on... wishing you all the love in the world!

At the end of the day, I hope you recognize that no matter what, without the flaky skin, or with it, being called Andrew, or being called by another name, or whatever, it's still the same you and you have to deal with the 'you'. When that is dealt with, chicks probably won't be that high on your list... until then, good luck with her, and with whoever you meet.

Haven't yet had a chance to jump into your post-cleansing thread. Will soon do that over the coming days.

Meanwhile, wanted already to mention here that you should be working diligently in your post-cleansing with your TCM, herbally, and you should get hold of a few aloe vera plants and put them on your window. Water them, love them and have them help your skin, cut the leaf open and use the fresh aloe on your skin, not chemicals or cosmetics, but use the aloe.

Also do a few steams every month to keep the skin cleansed and opened. Use the aloe then too.

You can also use it instead of shaving cream.

Good to see you back in action : ) The chick from Venezuela...we are good friends now, but unfortunately at this point in the semester there's no time to devote to seeing if it will go any further...maybe this summer...: )

As it so happens, my mother just bought an aloe vera plant! She may be mystified how leaves will start disappearing... Thanks for the suggestion! I definitely will use it for shaving cream. My face doesn't like being shaved...

Oh, and I've been slacking a bit on my post-cleansing forum...but there are a few entries...but I haven't been slacking with my diet changes! or my neti cleanings, or squatting, or anything else : ) In fact, I'm in the last two hour stretch of this week's 24 cleanse right now.

And, for a head's up...I might by dropping in to see you in 6 months or so... I'll be in Thailand from August '05 to May '06, probably taking classes at Assumption University. So be in Thailand sometime during that period!
